D. Ray James Prison - Phase II
Housing Expansion

Folkston, GA

Construction has begun on the Phase II Housing Expansion project at the D. Ray James Prison, in Folkston GA. The housing expansion project includes two new housing units which will increase the bed capacity at D. Ray by 780 Beds. Housing unit one will be a dormitory style unit containing 512 beds while housing unit #2 will contain 268 double cells. A 32,347 gross square foot administrative /support facility will accommodate administrative, intake/processing, medical, visitation, food preparation/dining and educational program spaces. The housing expansion project will bring the total number of beds at D. Ray James Prison to 2,800.
