Developing Inviting Places to Learn and Grow
Performa first worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Green Bay to expand both its eastside and west-side facilities nearly 15 years ago. Today, both clubs serve more than 750 boys and girls daily and both have outgrown their facilities. To achieve academic success, good character and citizenship, and a healthy lifestyle for boys and girls, a new design perspective was needed to promote creative learning while having fun.
Through a master-planning process, Performa concluded that expanding each site would be the ideal way to better serve its members. The emerging trend of trauma-enforced architecture and STEM programs, combined with the club’s successful core programs, has resulted in a plan to increase each facility’s floor space by nearly 45% so as to better accommodate the needs of the community’s children.
