Performa employees have a very active role in the volunteer-run Structural Engineers Association of Wisconsin (SEA-WI) organization. Brian Rinke, PE, SE, is currently the organization’s Legislative Chair which advocates for Wisconsin’s structural engineers at the Wisconsin Code Council. Meghan Scanlan, EIT, is currently the Secretary and the Continuing Education Chair and is nominated for the President-Elect position for next year. Meghan is in charge of planning and advertising all educational events such as webinars and lunch and learns, as well as planning and running both technical conferences. Performa is very proud of the active participation of its engineers, and fully supports their involvement in this great organization!
SEA-WI Spring Technical Conference
The Structural Engineers Association of Wisconsin (SEA-WI) is an organization that is dedicated to serving Wisconsin’s Structural Engineers by providing them with support and educational opportunities. SEA-WI holds a Spring and Fall Technical Conference annually, with the most recent conference being this past Friday, April 21, 2017. The 2017 Spring Technical Conference in Waukesha, WI, was attended by nearly 80 structural engineers from across Wisconsin as well as 6 structural-industry vendors. This was Wisconsin’s largest structural engineering-focused conference which offered a total of 6 Professional Development Hours (PDH) as well as incredible opportunities for attendees to network. Topics that were covered in the technical sessions include evaluating historic structures, new masonry concepts, how to better specify and use geotechnical reports, steel fabrication tips, and much more!
